Frequently Asked Questions

1 / My horse is probably going to be very tense. Does this cost extra?

Nope! I always go at the horse's pace, and sometimes that means taking longer than anticipated. It is always nice to know ahead of time so I can plan accordingly. However, my price is the same regardless of how long the session is.

2 / What are your rates?

This is the most common, first, and sometimes only question. I get it. Cost is important. Here is an overview of my pricing & discounts.

3 / Do you travel to _________?

I travel throughout all of NJ regularly. I go to eastern PA monthly or biweekly. I go to CT as needed. If you are unsure, go ahead and reach out.

4 / How often should my horse have bodywork?

This is entirely dependent upon the horse's needs, their history, and what I observe during the first session. Generally, for a horse with no medical issues in moderate work, I recommend a 4-5 week schedule.

5 / Do you have to go to school to do equine massage or bodywork?

Equine massage is largely unregulated in many states, including NJ. This is why it's very important to vet whoever you have out to work on your horse. Do they have any formal education? What are they certified in? How comprehensive were their certifications?

It is also important to keep in mind that massage therapists are not allowed to diagnose, treat, or prescribe for any medical condition, as this is considered veterinary medicine. Like human massage therapists, our main purpose is to relieve muscle tension/soreness and help your horse develop healthy musculature. If anyone who is not a licensed vet claims they can treat medical conditions, that is a giant red flag. Massage therapy, red light, PEMF, etc. are all complementary and helpful additions to a horse's care, not a replacement for medical treatment.
